Dancers of Sea Change Within Us
Ellie van Bever (Portland, OR) holds a B.S. in Political Science from American University. She has performed with Christopher K. Morgan & Artists, Jillian Peña, The Equus Projects, AnA, Amirov Dance Theater, and Katie Scherman + Artists, among others, with appearances at the Kennedy Center, BodyVox Dance Center, and the Velocity Dance Festival. Her work explores nontraditional performer–audience relationships through site-specific, immersive, and improvisational performance. In Seattle, she has produced Fuck it! We’ll Do it LIVE, DRAGONSLAYER, and has danced with Karin Stevens Dance since 2023. She recently joined the cast of Impossible Maps by C. Asa Call.
Sara Caplan (she/her) is a Seattle-based performer, choreographer and teacher originally from Dedham, MA. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography from the College at Brockport, State University of New York. She has performed in works choreographed by Laura Peterson, Maura Keefe, Kendra Portier, Mariah Maloney, Beth Gill, Shenandoah Harris, and Betsy Miller, C. Asa Call, among others. She has presented concert works and site-specific works at various theatres and urban venues in Pennsylvania, New York, and Seattle. She has danced with Karin Stevens Dance since 2022, and Good Grl Co. under the direction of Madeleine Gregor since 2025. She currently makes work collaboratively with fellow KSD company member, Anja Kellner-Rogers.
Madeleine Gregor (she/her) is a Seattle-based movement artist whose work centers in dance theater. Originally from Fargo, ND, she trained at Camria Ballet Academy before attending the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, where she earned her BA in Dance. As a performer, Gregor has worked with many Seattle artists and companies, including Christin Call, Natascha Greenwalt, Rainbow Fletcher of Hypernova Dance, Karin Stevens of Karin Stevens Dance, Beth Terwilliger of The Gray, Tabitha Steger, Bridget Kirk, Nicole Flores, Megan Margaret Moore, Shane Donohue, Liz Houlton, and Alyssa Casey.
From 2021–2024, Gregor served as Artistic Director of Coriolis Dance. Under her leadership, Coriolis performed at community festivals including SpringShot at 18th and Union, Launch at ExitSpace, and Howl Nights at The Shed, and was awarded residencies at Centrum in Port Townsend and The Being Mode at The Shed in Seattle.
Since the dissolution of Coriolis Dance in 2024, Gregor has founded her own company, Good GRL Co., and become a managing partner at Open Flight Studio in Seattle’s University District. She is excited about her opportunity to work with Karin Stevens Dance and remount Sea Change Within Us at Gonzaga University and PACCAR Pavillion as part of the Olympic Sculpture Garden.
Annabel Kaplan (she/her) is a Portland, Oregon-based dance artist and educator. She grew up in Portland, and began her dance training at Classical Ballet Academy under the direction of Sarah Rigles. In 2023, she graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia earning her BFA in Dance. After returning to Portland, Kaplan spent two seasons as a company artist with Shaun Keylock Company/Conduit Dance. She has also had the opportunity to work with Laura Cannon and ProLab Dance on a site specific project entitled Break to Build, and Pathways Dance Company on a regional tour of their 2019 work, Reverie, choreographed by Amelia Unsicker Logan and Kelly Koltiska. She is excited to be making her Washington debut with Karin Stevens Dance in Sea Change Within Us.
Ben Swenson-Klatt (they/them) is a Seattle based actor, dancer, singer, burlesque performer, and choreographer originally from Minneapolis, MN. They graduated from St. Olaf College with a B.A. in Theater and Dance and a Concentration in Women and Gender Studies and have recently worked with Heap Troupe, Washington Ensemble Theatre, AnA Collaborations, Seattle Rep’s Public Works program, Dacha Theatre, Tacoma Arts Live, LanDforms, Robbi Moore, Beth Terwilleger, ARENA Dances, Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theatre, and Leyya Tawil. They have presented original work at CO-SHOW10, Seattle Open Arts Space, 12 Minutes Max, Chlo & Co. Dance’s DROVE IX, the Center for Performing Arts, St. Olaf College, ACDA North-Central Conference, Future Interstates, and at Bearnstow in Mount Vernon, ME and received residencies through UW’s BST, Velocity’s Creative Residency, and the Center for Performing Arts in Mpls, MN. They are thrilled to be working with Karin Stevens Dance and performing in Sea Change Within Us again after being part of the original cast and production in 2019.
